A Letter to Santa

Dear Santa, I realize it’s only July
And Christmas is 6 months away.
I suppose that you’re probably wondering why
I’m writing this letter today.
Well, Sir, please don’t think…that I don’t appreciate..all the stuff.. that you brought me before!!
But this year I’m asking..for something..kinda special…..
A gift that the whole world can share.
If you can make my wish for Christmas come true….
You’ll be giving to kids everywhere

Can you bring us some hope for Christmas this year?
Can you leave some beneath every tree?
Can you fill up the stockings with tolerance and cheer
for each and every family?
Can you bring understanding to every mother’s child
that makes prejudice crumble and fall?
If you can fill my list for Christmas this year,
You’ll make THIS the best CHRISMAS of all.

(Music only..+ spoken words to the melody of last verse..from ‘Can you’ on) Something to the effect of; “I’ve already asked the same thing of all the world’s leaders. They say that they like the idea, but they said their ‘hands were tied’ – politics, you know!! You are my only hope and I thought of you because of your universality – (although you’re known by many different names around the world.) I know it will take quite a while, so I’m writing this letter in advance. So, Please, won’t you try?”

Can you bring us some love for Christmas this year?
Can you leave some beneath every tree?
Can you fill all the stockings with empathy and cheer
For each and every family?
Can you bring understanding to every mother’s child
That makes bigotry crumble and fall?
If you can fill my list for Christmas this year,
you’ll make this the best Christmas of all.
If you can fill my list for Christmas this year,
You’ll make THIS…..the best CHRISTMAS….of all.
