Magic Johnson (1991 – Hoops #266)

Earvin “Magic” Johnson, Jr. Played for the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA for 13 years. During his years with the Lakers he was a 5-time member of a Championship Team and a 12-time League All-Star. He was a NBA MVP 3 times (1987 ’89 and ’90) and the All-Star game MVP on 2 occassions (1990, ’92). Magic was also voted to the All-NBA First Team 9 straight times (1982 – ’91). He was a member of the All-Rookie Team in 1980. Johnson won other awards too numerous to mention and set a number of records which don’t appear here either. Magic Johnson’s uniform number (#32) has been retired by the Lakers and he was inducted into the Basketball Hall Of Fame as a player. He was a member of the Gold Medal winning U.S.Team at the Barcelona Olympics. His College team, Michigan State U, beat Larry Bird’s Indiana State U, in the Championship Game for the 1979 – ’80 NCAA Title. He was only a Sophomore at Michigan State at the time.

Magic Johnson was one of the very best and at the top of the best of all college players at Michigan St and in the NBA as a Laker and to this day, has a very great sense of humor and likeability or personality and I still see him occassionally on TV talking basketball or making a special appearance. Top shelf-all the way! He knows basketball as well as anyone alive!
