Wilt Chamberlain (1996 – Topps Stars #9)

Wilton Norman “Wilt” Chamberlain (the Big Dipper) was a 7’1” Center for 14 years in the NBA for the San Francisco/Philadelphia Warriors (1959 – ’65), the Philadelphia 76ers (1965 – ’68) and the Los Angeles Lakers (1968 – ’73) after a year with the Harlem Globetrotters. He was the Rookie of the Year in 1960 with San Francisco. Wilt was a 4-time NBA MVP and a 13-time All-Star. He was a member of 2 NBA Championship Teams ( with the 76ers and with the Lakers) and once scored 100 points in a single game agaist the New York Knicks. Chamberlain also was the League scoring leader for 7 consecutive years (1960 –’66) and an 11-time NBA Rebounding Champion (he is the career leader in rebounds). Wilt Chamberlain’s uniform number (#13) has been retired by every team he played for and he was inducted into the Naismith National Basketball Hall Of Fame as a player, and the College Basketball Hall Of Fame (his Alma Mater was Kansas U, where he was a 2 time All-American for the Jayhawks (1957 & ’58).   1. Wilt the “Stilt” was one of the greatest basketball players of all time and scored 100 pts in one game against the NY Knicks! I doubt THAT will be ever done again! He will be always remembered as one of the greatest, but I never knew he played for the Harlem Globetrotters. You sure have one “helluva” card collection, my friend! PG
